T-shirt and Sweatshirt

Tshirtmodelfront   Okay, these aren't the ACTUAL t-shirts and sweatshirts, these are cheesey tshirt and sweatshirt pics that I found on the web and then photoshoped with our logo.  It will give you the idea of what we are doing with our apparel.  They are much, much cooler for real.  The sweatshirts are especially...stiched applique front and screened verse on the back.  Very cool.  Or, as Miles Johnson says, they are sick. :)  Both are chocolate brown, the sweatshirt is a hooded full-front zipper.

Are You Crooked?

Tshirtfront

Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked? -Ecclesiastes 7:13

This is the verse that we are structuring all of our curriculum around this year.  I love the implications: God made you uniquely, no matter how crooked that may feel sometimes.  And guess what?  He wants you that way...every crooked inch of you.

This is going to be a great year!

Online Giving Is Up!

Giving_splash_page_2 I'm really happy to announce that we have enabled online giving for those of you that would like to support the trip but would like to do so online.

If you click here, you will be taken to our secure payment gateway.

The first thing that you will need to do is register as a user.  This is a one time deal, and your information will not be used for anything else besides this mission trip.  Once you have registered you will be taken to a page where you can choose to make a payment via credit/debit card or check.

Online_giving_2 I think the process is fairly self-explanatory, but if you have any questions, please email Matt by clicking here.

Thank you so much for your generous support!

Donations

Yesterday we kicked off fund-raising for our upcoming mission trip.  We need support from you, and there are two ways you can do it.

First, you can send us money.  Yes, it's just that simple.  You can mail us a check made payable to "Sunset Presbyterian Church" with a memo line that says "Mexico Trip/student's name".  If you aren't sending money on behalf of a particular student, make sure you still have the part about the Mexico Trip in the memo line.  Please mail checks to:

Sunset Presbyterian Church
Attn: Matt Singley
14986 NW Cornell Rd.
Portland, OR 97229

Second, you can give us some stuff to sell.  We're doing a garage sale, 2007 style.  Each Friday evening and Saturday morning we will be driving around Portland collecting goods to sell on Craig's List and eBay.  We would love to pick up some of your things, we will take furniture, electronics, art...anything of some value.  No garbage please!  If you would like to donate something, please click here to send us an email and we will make arrangements.

Thank you so much!

Summary of Our Mission Trip

Mexico_2006_212 I know that we will have several new visitors to our mission trip blog today, so I thought I would write a brief summary about what we are doing.

On June 18th, about 100 people from 5 churches will be traveling to Northern Mexico to build houses for the very poor.  While there, we will camp in the desert and provide all of our own food...we will not have running water or electricity available to us.  Heck, we'll barely have portable bathrooms nearby!

During the day we will drive into the colonies that surround the South side of Tijuana and we will work throughout the week to build 11' x 22' homes.  This year we should build a handful of homes plus a double-wide.  It's hard work as we do everything by hand, including mixing the concrete and pouring the foundation.

At night we will spend time in camp hanging out together, eating, worshiping and talking about God and His great love for us.  We will be in "family groups" that will have a chance to talk about our experiences throughout the week, as well as go over what we are doing at the campfire at night.Mexico_2006_152

If you are a reader from Portland and would like to help sponsor our trip, please send an email to us by clicking here.  We are accepting financial contributions (which are fully tax deductible) as well as donations of good (furniture, electronics, etc) that we will sell to raise money for the trip.

I f you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!  You can leave a comment on this blog, or you can send an email to Matt directly and he will get back to you right away.  Thank you so much!
